Is it something about their age?

Just noticing that most of my posts seem to be courtesy of Cameron.

Is there something about being 4? What gems will Renee come up with as she gets older? Is Veronica over the hill?

Does anyone care?

Twisted

Cameron had some trouble getting on his chair at Sizzler tonight. His reason?
"My bones got a bit twisted!"

Sounds painful!

What does this mean?

Out of the blue last night, Cameron announces:
My brain is heavy, so that means I'm thirsty.

Ummm... I'm sure there's something deep and meaningful there. When I figure out what it is I'll let you know.

It's not funny!

We recently bought a new movie for the kids - "The Mysterious Island". It's not much fun for Cameron though. This morning he asked to watch...
The Serious Island

Misheard lyrics

Friends of ours (yes, we have some!) are closet AC/DC fans. Their 4 year old daughter was attempting to sing "Highway to Hell", but instead sang:
It's a hard way to yell...
Actually Tash, I think I prefer your version!

Manual traffic lights

On the way home from shopping tonight we stopped at a stop sign. (As you do.) Cameron was good enough to let Mum know that there was a stop sign there, and that we had to wait for a while:
...until the sign turns green.
We could be up for a bit of a wait!

Eating difficulties

We used to have some bristle-nosed catfish in our fishtank, but unfortunately they didn't last long. Wrong water temperature or something like that.

Anyway, tonight Veronica figured out her own reason why they died:
They couldn't eat anything because their mouths were stuck to the glass!

Mixed songs

Have you ever noticed how the "Alphabet Song" has the same tune as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"?

This is providing me with an endless source of entertainment. When one of the kids starts singing "Twinkle, twinkle little star", I chime in with "H I J K L M N O P". And of course, if they start with "A B C D E F G", I add "How I wonder what you are".

Endless amusement for me, endless frustration for the kids. I'm cruel, I know... ;)

Red and lowie and pink and green...

When Veronica was about 2 (I guess) she had a lit of trouble with a certain colour. She knew what it was, she just couldn't say it.

The colour?

Yellow. Or should I say "lowie".

No matter how hard we tried, "yellow" would always be pronounced "lowie".
Us: "Can you say 'hello'?"
Veronica: "Hello."
Us: "Can you say 'yellow'?"
Veronica: "Lowie!"

Fortunately, she outgrew it!

Warm beverages

One to start the ball rolling...

Cameron, 4 at the time, was sitting in the back seat of the car, sniffing rather aggressively. Mum asked if he needed a tissue. The response:
No, I drinked it all up!

Yummy.

Why am I doing this?

Kids have a habit of saying the funniest things, in all seriousness. Every time I relate one of their quotes, someone always says, "Why don't you write it down?"

Well, maybe I just will!

I've got a few in my head that I'll add soon (so the dates won't be especially accurate) but my goal is to post their little gems here "as they happen", preserving the innocence for all eternity. Or until Blogger has a massive hard drive failure, whichever comes first!

Enjoy!
