Dawn of confusion

Yesterday afternoon Veronica is explaining dawn to the other kids.

"The sun is rising up and the moon is rising down.

Mum corrects her: "The moon is setting."
Cameron: "The moon is sitting? That's funny! Hahahaha!"

Too smart for Dad

I tried Veronica on the old trick questions:

1. Spell "milk"
2. What do Cows drink?

Most people reply with "milk". But not Veronica. She looked at me funny and said "water", as if to say, "geeze Dad, what else would they drink?"

We asked her if she's heard that before, and it appears she hadn't. Just goes to show they can listen when they want to!

Young meteorologist

We're discussing why we haven't been able to go swimming the last few afternoons, and Cameron declares:

"There have been lots of weathers...

On not having a drivers licence

With Yolinda down in Toowoomba for a few days, both Veronica and Renee are arguing about who's being "mummy". Cameron's feeling a bit left out, of course, so in the car last night he proclaims that he's "daddy".

Veronica decrees that he can't be, as I'm still here. If I went away too, then he could be "daddy". But then she realises:

"But none of us can drive the car. That's a disaster!"

Ever felt like this on a Monday morning?

Cameron wakes up this morning and says, "Everything's a bit soggy."

I hadn't even served brekky yet!

An early Googler

On the weekend Yolinda got stung by a bee.

Veronica, ever helpful, jumps on the computer & does a search for "bees"...

Problem feet (More misheard lyrics)

Avril Lavigne's song "Sk8er Boi" has a line "They had a problem with his baggy clothes".

But Veronica was singing it this morning as:

"They had a problem with their toes"

I scream for ice cream

I asked the kids tonight: "Who wants ice cream?"

Veronica replied with genuine shock:

For goodness' sakes, who wouldn't want ice cream?!

(And all Cameron was after was the "topping that sticks"... Otherwise known as Ice Magic)

Assorted dinner comments

Dinner tonight at Taco Bill's.

We're asking Veronica about drawing a cat for a logo we might have to design. She tells us that her teacher thinks she's "creative-ish". And Veronica believes she's an "almost anything" kind of kid. Then the waitress calls by and asks how everything is going, to which Veronica replies matter-of-factly:

"Good thanks - we're just talking about logos."

So later on, Cameron asks me what head bones look like. I expect he's asking me about skulls. Head bones. I think I might start using that.

Pizza with love

Renee hands Veronica a piece of pizza tonight:

"Here you go Lolica my darling..."
